An ecofriendly project which will turn the city of Piolenc into a positive-energy town.
Installed on an old quarry lake, the system will be equipped with 50,000 floating polycristalline silicon panels. When completed, this 12MW system will cover 51 acres and generate the yearly electricity consumption of 5,700 households.
The city of Piolenc, owner of the lake, whishes to give new direction and strength to its environmental values by restoring an abandoned industrial site.
After a positive public enquiry, the building permit was delivered in January 2012. The project will be submitted for final administrative approval in February 2012.
The 14kW floating prototype has been operating on the site since April 2011.
