Welcome to Mountain Regional Water’s Signal Hill plant, located at 1600m elevation in the Rocky Mountains of Utah. In the Fall of 2024, D3Energy and Ameresco, installed this 587.5 kWp floating solar array with Ciel & Terre’s Hydrelio product, the very first of its kind in Utah.
Every site is unique, and so is every solution we design. Signal Hill presented a unique challenge that required additional technical considerations. In a high-altitude ski region, our engineers had to account for annual winter conditions, from heavy snow loads to shifting water levels caused by freezing and thawing. To offer an efficient and secure structure, the team had to study weather patterns including the depth, timing and frequency of snow and ice. By incorporating these into the design, we ensured the plant could perform efficiently year-round.
