Our solutions for
areas with high levels
of snowfall

Floating solar systems are compatible with projects located in very cold areas. We consider a “cold zone” when the project can face temperatures from 0°C to -40°C/F and a snow load exceeding 350N/m² (62 psf).

To meet this site characteristics, we use :

  • a combination of laboratory testing
    (e.g. compliance with UL2730)
  • field observation through our projects installed in extremely cold regions such as South Korea, Colorado (USA) or Sweden.

Accordingly, we design our floats to withstand cold, ice and snow. Depending on the characteristics of your site, we have the right float for your needs.

Indeed, our floating solar solutions are developed and tested by processes that reproduce real wave conditions.
All of our floating solar panel systems are designed to cope with waves up to 2m high (with wave breaker installed).
In addition to our floating photovoltaic systems, we have also developed our wave breaker technology which allows to secure the platform in environments with sustained wave conditions.
Above all, our teams provide you with a turnkey solution. Depending on both site characteristics and environmental loads, our solar power plants can be offered with or without our wave breaker.

Of course, the anchoring of the power plant is key when facing waves. That is why at Ciel & Terre, we integrate the anchoring design into our solutions. In the same way, we offer to manage both the supply and the installation of anchors and mooring lines.

Floating solar
on salty water

Our solutions can be installed on salty water bodies without doubt. Indeed, they resist to the corrosion that can occur. As an expert in floating solar systems, we pay particular attention to the quality of the materials used in our system.

That is why we :

  • carefully choose the materials used to optimize their resistance thanks to the tests we have carried out beforehand,
  • ask for a study of the water quality to estimate the corrosive level,
  • carry out a control of the pieces which are subject to corrosion.
